UChicago Medicine Security Incident: What Happened?
UCM Medical Group Sub, LLC, which does business as UChicago Medicine Medical Group (formerly known as Primary Healthcare Associates, S.C.), has reported a cybersecurity incident involving its vendor, Nationwide Recovery Services, Inc. (NRS). NRS, a debt collection agency, informed the medical group on April 8, 2025 that unauthorized access to its systems occurred between July 5 and July 11, 2024, potentially affecting personal information.
The data potentially compromised in the data breach affecting UChicago Medicine includes names, addresses, birth dates, Social Security numbers, financial account details, and medical-related information.
UChicago Medicine, which has hospitals, outpatient clinics and physician practices throughout the Chicago area and Northwest Indiana, is notifying affected individuals via mail about the data breach so long as it has their mailing addresses and has also posted notice online.
